'America' Essay Contest

LAKEWOOD — Sam Brown, an attorney at The Law Offices of Sam Brown, is sponsoring an essay contest for high school students in Monmouth and Ocean counties. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward any accredited college, with additional prizes for runners-up.

Eligible students should submit a 250-word or less essay titled “America,” postmarked Sept. 30 or before to Sam Brown, 205 East Kennedy Boulevard, Lakewood 08701. The essay must include the student’s name, address and telephone number. The decision will be based on context, originality and writing ability.

“I feel deeply appreciative when I think about how fortunate my family and I are to live in America,” Brown said. “By sponsoring a scholarship, I am hoping in some small way to give back to our community. We thought summer might be a good time for students to reflect upon their appreciation of our wonderful country.”

One grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to an accredited college of his or her choice. Three runners-up will each receive $100 gift cards. The top 10 contestants will be invited to participate in a forum titled “Ask the Lawyer” at The Law Offices of Sam Brown.

Full details of the essay contest can be found on Sam Brown’s Web site at www.sambrownlaw.com.
