"Tell America's Story" Preservation Award Contest
High school seniors within the Sprint service area at Beaufort Academy and Beaufort and Battery Creek high schools will have the chance to win one of two $1,000 scholarships in a Beaufort history essay contest.
The contest is made possible through a partnership between Sprint, the Historic Beaufort Foundation and the Beaufort County School District. The essay should identify and tell the story of a historic site in northern Beaufort County. The site may be connected to any individual, group or event that shaped Beaufort's history and culture, including buildings, parks or street corners.
The essay should defend why the site deserves public recognition for its role in helping to shape local history. Winning essays will be submitted to Parade Magazine's "Tell America's Story" Preservation Award Contest to compete for national recognition.
